Bhupinder started violin lessons at school from Michael Crompton at the age of 8 in 1971. Within a short time he was playing for school and various local orchestras. By the mid 70's, Mangal, his first cousin, had sown the seeds of playing Indian music and in 1978/9 he started playing with Chiraag the precursor band to Chiraag Pehchaan. At the same time he was involved in Kala Sona where he first met and played with Kumar Heera.
In 1981 he passed his Grade 8 exams on the violin, with a distinction, and in the summer of that year won the first Rafi competition with Chiraag. 1982-85 were University days in Cardiff where he led the Cardiff Light Orchestra and played with the Cardiff Chamber Orchestra. In the latter part of 1985 He had a brief stint with the London Medical Orchestra and was approached by Kumar to join Heera.
1985-90 were the explosive days of Heera. During this time Bhupinder was recording on their albums, playing with Hans Raj Hans who was very close to Heera in that era, embarking on various tours abroad; Canada twice, Kenya, Sweden, France. Heera had various TV appearances including Blue Peter. Heera also won various accolades in this period; best band in 1988 to name one.
In 1990 Bhupinder joined the Slough Philharmonic Orchestra and played with them until 2007. He recorded for Apache Indian, Safri and Alaap and played with Anuradha Paudwal in the Southall mundir during 1991-92 I. He toured with Heera in autumn 1992 in Bangkok, Malaysia and Singapore.
During 2007 while playing with Heera, at the London Mela, Bhupinder met Ranvir ex-Sonic Gurus. He started recording on the Universal Taal Project within days of meeting him. In 2008, with Heera he backed up Gurdas Mann, and later that year, Anwar the Bollywood artist.
